It quits System Preferences when it’s done, which I find mildly annoying – I’d rather it left the app in whatever state it was already in. I found an AppleScript on the Keyboard Maestro forum that toggles Voice Control, but I was a bit dissatisfied. Even when it’s paused, I noticed other apps get sluggish – so I want to be able to toggle it quickly, without opening System Preferences every time. You can enable Voice Control in the Accessibility pane of System Preferences, but I don’t want it enabled all the time. The latter is useful if your writing involves specialist terminology that isn’t in the Siri dictation dictionary. Among other things, it allows you to dictate continuously and add a custom vocabulary (for certain languages), so I really wanted to try it.
